SUMMARY:Guatemalan Worry Doll Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Worry is an emotion that we all experience\, regardless of our
cultural or ethnic background.\n\n\n\nThe Worry Doll program addresses the
topic of worry through art with a purpose.\n\n\n\nAccording to Guatemalan
legend\, the sun god gifted Princess Ixmucane with the ability to alleviate
people’s worries. In modern times\, we create dolls in her honor and
confide our worries to them before retiring for the night\, placing them
under our pillows. In the morning\, we believe that the dolls have taken
away our worries or provided solutions.\n\n \n\nPresented by Andrea Del Cid
an educator for the Worry Doll Program (El programa de las muñecas
quitapenas) and the Vice Chair for the Reher Center for Immigrant Culture
and History.\n\n \n\nThis program is brought to you by the Reher Center for
 Immigrant Culture and History.
